Vessels can carry cycles, cars, coaches,
camping cars, lorries, containers, agricultural machinery, exceptional loads,
etc...
In 2006, they carried 955,000 passengers and 302,000 vehicles.
The crossing between the two sides
of the estuary takes about 20 minutes.
There is no need to book, except for
coaches and wide or dangerous loads (bookings are made at the Le Verdon office
or the Blaye office), and payment is made when boarding (credit card, cheque, cash,
holiday vouchers).
For your own convenience, it is best
to arrive half an hour before departure time.
There are several different rates
for this crossing: passengers, vehicles, cycles, horses, vans, caravans, parcels,
and there are also season tickets, group rates, special tariffs.
For
season ticket holders, personal half-price cards are sold and prepared in the Direction
des Transports Maritimes offices (provide a photo, copy of the vehicle log book,
ID of applicant).
Half-price cards bought at Le Verdon are also valid at Blaye and Lamarque.
