The Conseil Général is engaged in partnerships with several regions of Africa and Europe. It has been involved with Houet Province in Burkina Faso since 1993 and, since 2003, with Adrar Province in Algeria and the West Pomeranian Voivodeship (Szczecin) in Poland.
In addition, the Conseil Général organises a European Citizenship Competition in partnership with the association France-Libertés Gironde and the local schools inspectorate of Bordeaux. Furthermore, it works with the associations of the Gironde in bringing together projects concerning Senegal, Turkey and Morocco, three countries that have large national communities in the department.
